Skateboarders aim to flip commuter bans →
Skateboarding is returning to its roots: rolling around.  There will always be handrail and stair sessions, but the majority of skateboarders are just trying to get from one place to another while enjoying the ride.  Many laws which were put into effect historically wrongfully criminalize skateboarders of every age for using the roads in a reasonable manner.  Let’s overturn these laws!

Food For Thought For The New Year
They can close a mountain for skiing… They can create an ice tunnel for bobsledding… They can build a concrete and fake grass arena for football… They can control a body of water for a regatta… They can strategically plant grass and lay sand for baseball… They can pour cement and fill it with chemical infested water for leisure… …and yet getting a road...

Today Show: Hawk Talks Skating to Success →
Skateboarding is at a crossroads right now; there is more money to be made than ever before and consequently higher stakes.  Tony is quite an inspiration on how to love what you do and to capitalize on it while still maintaining your dignity.  Check out this video and tell me if you agree.

Longboards' speed a problem →
Although skateboarding is still criminalized in West Vancouver, it is good to see that the police is seeing that longboarding is a growing form of green transportation.  Continue to be a good example and slowly but surely we’ll overturn these unjust laws.

It doesn’t matter what age you are, whether you wear a shoelace belt and knit cap in the summer or not, if you ride longboards or short boards; skateboarding is about individualism and expressing yourself.

SkateboarderCross - We need more sanctioned races! →
Fresh news on the front page of Silverfish Longboarding today.  Looks like BoarderX is making it’s way over to California this weekend.  After watching the video below I’ve always wanted to try it, as it combines downhill, slalom, and transition.  An event of this magnitude is extremely difficult to do without road closure, so it goes to show that a good relationship between skaters,...

“Mike Girard of Harvard organized a longboard competition (WITH PHOTO GALLERY)” I actually attended this race out in Massachusetts.  It’s always good to see people getting out of their comfort zone and getting a sanctioned event going.  If you’re on the fence about getting an event going, DO IT!  The worst response you can get is “No.”
