LURK: 1. To lie in wait, as in ambush or attack, 2. To move furtively, Sneak 3. To exist unobserved or unsuspected.
You know you have got something special going when lurking is part of your scene. Very few lifestyles involve lurking to the degree that skating does – we lurk spots, in streets, on porches, in bars, while driving, when skating: skaters even lurk at home. How many times has some one called you up at home when your doing nothing.
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing, just lurking.”
Skaters start lurking even before they are born Most people refer to the nine month period to birth as gestation, but us skaters were just lurking in our mothers womb, waiting to come out and start skating. Something about being a skater makes you end up lurking the vast majority of the time, regardless of what you are doing. Its a state of mind, and part of our way of life. We’re always lurking because we are always waiting for the moment to attack, like the definition says. Were always lurking because we are always watching the world around us for whatever it is that skaters are always looking for. Were always lurking because we are skaters and that’s what we do. Lurking brings us comfort. Take us anywhere, we’ll lurk out. Skaters can lurk during thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s. Lurking is the result of a skateboarding mind that is either waiting restlessly to skate or has no desire to do anything at all. Somehow when we aren’t skating, lurking is a good substitute for us. Lurking, like skating, is the anti thesis of the go-about-your-business normalcy of the rest of society, and so even though it isn’t directly a skating thing, LURKING is the Reason Why
